*Andromeda Conquest* is a strategy game developed for the Commodore PET and published by Avalon Hill in 1981. It is a space-themed game where players engage in strategic conquest, managing resources, and exploring star systems. The game is part of Avalon Hill's early foray into computer gaming, leveraging their expertise in board game design to create a digital experience.
The gameplay involves players controlling a fleet of starships, exploring a galaxy, and competing against an AI opponent to conquer star systems. Players must manage fuel, ships, and strategic decisions to expand their empire while defending against enemy forces. The game is turn-based, with a focus on resource management and tactical planning, reflecting Avalon Hill's traditional board game roots.
Avalon Hill was known for its board games and early computer adaptations, and *Andromeda Conquest* is one of their lesser-known titles from this era. It was designed for the Commodore PET, a popular computer at the time, and reflects the limitations and design sensibilities of early 1980s computer gaming. While not as widely remembered as some of Avalon Hill's other titles, it remains a part of the company's history in the transition from board games to digital gaming.
